Ready for an FASFC inspection?

An inspection rarely announces itself. With this checklist, you are prepared at any time.

An FASFC (Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain) inspection usually comes unannounced. If your business is in order, you have nothing to lose sleep over. These points often come up.

Your self-check system

Make sure your procedures exist, are up to date and match how work is actually done in practice.

Records

Temperatures of fridges and freezers, checks on goods received and cleaning carried out: what has not been recorded did not happen, as far as an inspector is concerned.

Traceability

Keep delivery notes and invoices so that you can demonstrate where your products come from.

Hygiene and infrastructure

Clean workplaces, hand-washing facilities with soap and paper towels, and a pest control approach are all part of it.

Training

Staff must know and apply the basic rules of hygiene. Keep a record of who has received which training.

Not sure whether everything is in order? An internal audit gives you a clear picture before the inspector arrives.
