Five tips for a cleaning plan that works
A cleaning plan is only valuable if it is actually followed on the shop floor. Here is how to go about it.
With these five tips, you can set up a cleaning plan that your staff will actually use.
1. Start from your premises
Walk through every room and note which surfaces and equipment need to be cleaned. That way, you will not forget anything.
2. Define what, how and with what
For each task, describe the method, the product and the dosage. Clear instructions prevent arguments.
3. Choose a realistic frequency
Not everything has to be done daily. Match the frequency to usage and risk.
4. Make someone responsible
A task without an owner is often skipped. Assign a role or team to each task.
5. Record and evaluate
Have completed tasks signed off and regularly check whether the plan still matches practice.
